IKEA Is Entering the DJ Game Now

IKEA is on its way to revolutionizing just how passively enthusiastic we can be about home decor and entertainment. The Swedish-founded Dutch-based company, famous for providing legions of millenials with bare minimum furnishing essentials, is getting into the home entertainment game by announcing a line of DJ equipment.

IKEA has officially announced the soon-to-be-released line of sound equipment alongside Swedish audio tech company Teenage Engineering. The line has been dubbed the Frekvens range, Swedish for "frequency." The collection will feature 22 items including an “electronic choir, vinyl player, party lighting and everything else you need in order to throw a really good music party,” according to the company. It will consist of a vinyl record turntable, an electronic choir, and party spotlights. No word on if the lights have strobing capabilities, but if they do, you can bet we're hooking that up at our next bloghouse-themed loft party.

The products will also presumably include wall and/or ceiling attachment hardware, so you don't accidentally bump it while you're in the throes of Shiny Toy Guns.Research shows 65% of all Millennials aged 18-29 year olds play music to get a “homely feeling.”  With proof of just how insatiably music is consumed in the home setting, IKEA was inspired to get in on the audio obsession. These items will not be available until FEB 2019 are you ready?

For Detroit rapper Kash Doll's March 14 birthday, she decided to surprise fans with that new new, offering up a mixtape titled Brat Mail.

The project is a little something from her to her supporters, as the title references her fans, whom she refers to as Bratz. The new nine-song offering boasts features from Scrilla on two tracks and Natasha Mosley on the song "Serious."

This morning I was met with surprise and excitement  at the news that Roland is following up the success of the DJ-808 with these two controllers The Roland DJ-202 and DJ-505. These two controllers have a built-in drum machine with TR-808 and TR-909 sounds which is what sets them apart from their competitors. As of this time the price points have not yet been reveled. Go To ROLAND for my info

Roland DJ-202

The new Roland DJ-202 is the entry-level DJ controller with not quite the feature set of the DJ-505 or last year’s groundbreaking DJ-808 but it certainly packs some weighty new features.

Nintendo announced the Super NES Classic Edition today, and the company is adjusting its strategy by allowing retailers to accept pre-orders for what’s sure to be one of the hottest gaming items this year.

The NES Classic Edition was stocked sporadically throughout the year, and we already know that the Super NES Classic Edition is a limited release as well. Nintendo has already stated that it’s making more units to hopefully meet demand, and we’re hoping that enthusiasts in the US will be given a chance to pre-order before launch. The NES Classic Edition was handled on a strictly first come, first served basis.

The following retailers having the system listed in the United States, which could be an indication that pre-orders are on the way:

You can sign up to be alerted when the systems go on sale.

The SNES Classic Edition is currently listed as “out of stock” on the landing page, but you can sign up for an in-stock alert.

There is a landing page, but no way to get an alert and no hints at pre-orders. [Update: There’s now a Notify Me button on the page.]

No information yet.

Good question. Amazon UK has pre-orders, although stock will likely be gone by the time you read this. Game UK offered pre-orders yesterday but quickly sold out. Let’s hope this means other retailers will be offering pre-orders in other regions, and we’ll be updating this post as news comes in.

The SNES Classic Edition will be released on Sept. 29, and the system will include 21 games for $79.99, giving it a smaller library than the discontinued NES Classic for $10 more — perhaps because there’s an extra controller in the box.

The system ships with two wired SNES Classic controllers, as well as an HDMI cable, USB charging cable and AC adapter. The two controllers are to make the Classic Edition’s multiplayer games playable right out of the box.

We would suggest getting your pre-order in as quickly as possible if you already know you’d like to buy one. The demand for the system will likely increase as news of its existence leaves enthusiast circles and the mainstream audience that grew up with the Super Nintendo joins the hunt.

The Get Down Part II on Netflix April 7th

Major shoutout to Netflix they are  doing something a little different with its hiphop series from Baz Luhrmann, The Get Down part II comes out April 7th. The first season was amazing to me and taught me some things about how back in the day DJ's had cue points.Needless to say the generation of DJ's before my time deserves way more respect then what they have been given

The series focuses on the creation of music genres such as hip-hop and disco in 1970s New York, paying particularly close attention to a group of teenagers from the South Bronx.

Part I came out in August 2016 and featured plenty of flashy costumes and musical numbers, as one can expect from Luhrmann. From the looks of the trailer, part II will keep this up and see the teens attempt to take their music "from minor to major league." I'm geeked about this season. Here's the trailer below.
