DJ LP hails from a small town in Decatur, IL where he grew up listening to the sounds orchestrated by his mother, who was local radio personality and DJ. This sparked a curiosity, which led to the discovery of pivotal hip-hop and R&B music, which developed a passion for music.
LP used to sneak into his parents’ house parties, play music, and perform for money. At seventeen he started DJing for house parties, where he was recognized for his talent and began working for WDZ Magic 1050. His radio career continued at WCSU of Central State University where he was a radio personality during undergrad.
Following graduation LP moved to St. Louis, MO and started interning at 100.3 The Beat. Impressed with his skills after just two months, The Beat hired him on as a producer/DJ for the DEE LEE Morning Show. Six months after being hired on he earned the privilege of his own show: Live in the City with DJ LP. He split his time and talents between 100.3 The Beat in St. Louis and WCZQ Hot 105.5 in Champaign, IL.
